Yay! It’s January. It’s a new year and with that, a whole new list of books you MUST read, events you MUST go to, and writers you MUST meet.
Junction Reads is so excited for this year. We will celebrate our tenth anniversary in March (stay tuned for details on a super fun Fall Launch at 3030 in the Junction to celebrate this milestone). We started the series at 3030 in March 2014 and it has been a super fun ride!
This month, we have two fantastic events. Virtual & in-person at TYPE Books in the Junction.
On Sunday January 14, 6:00pm ET, we will be on Zoom with Steven Mayoff to talk about his latest book, THE ISLAND GOSPEL ACCORDING TO SAMSON GRIEF from Radiant Press. Register at EventBrite to get tickets, or save yourself and us some fees by donating directly to our PayPal fundraiser. Every penny goes to the author.
Ian Colford says: “The Island Gospel According to Samson Grief provides a rollicking journey through an audaciously reimagined Prince Edward Island, a place bubbling over with intrigue, crowded with unforgettable characters both odious and ordinary, and where divine intervention is a daily occurrence. Utterly original and wildly entertaining.”
On Sunday January 28 6:00pm at TYPE Books in the Junction (2887 Dundas Street West), we welcome Elizabeth Ruth, Jessica Westhead, and Nathan Whitlock.
About SEMI-DETACHED from Elizabeth Ruth, Helen Humphreys says: “Part love story, part ghost story, part murder mystery – Elizabeth Ruth’s Semi-Detached is all heart. Fiercely compelling and beautifully nuanced. A modern novel for the ages. Just brilliant.”
Jessica Westhead’s collection of stories, AVALANCHE, is according to Hollay Ghadery, cringe-worthy stories that focus on “white women, and while they are brutal in their accuracy, they are not unsympathetic to the flailing of white people who are struggling to wake up to the true extent of their privilege.”
Zoe Whitall describes Nathan Whitlock’s novel, LUMP, “both a page-turner and a disquieting and complex take on marriage, illness, and privilege.” Kerry Clare says: “Lump traces a downward spiral that went lower than I believed it could, which is why I was so gripped.”
There will be book raffles and special gifts from TYPE that you could win. Grab a ticket today, or pay cash at the door. You can also donate through PayPal (fundraiser link coming soon).
